Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri put her spin on the French fashion house with punk rock elements and feminine silhouettes. She also took notes from Yves Saint Laurent's first collection for Dior.

<a href="https://lofficielusa.org/tags/maria-grazia-chiuri">Maria Grazia Chiuri</a> made a triumphant mark on Paris Haute Couture Week with <a href="https://lofficielusa.org/tags/dior">Dior</a>'s latest Spring/Summer 2025 couture collection. Held in the gardens of the famed Rodin Museum, the show exuded youthful grace and elegance through the A-line silhouettes of the ruffled and lacy designs. The concept of transformation was exquisitely seen as the models made their way down the runway in lavish skirts that put a punk rock twist to the feminine silhouettes. Models' hair was kept laid down in slick-back styles and more punk-inspired hairdos like mohawks with feathered spikes.&nbsp;
In the creative director's lineup of (ultra trendy) sheer dresses and hooped petticoats, Chiuri explores escapism in this latest reveal through a play with patterns and textures (evident in tulles, sequins, and ribbons that flowed behind the models). Chiuri included the usual fitted jackets and floral embroidery in the shapely skirts. The aim was for the clothes to bring its admirer and wearer back to a place "between childhood and adulthood, dream and reality," per show notes. The creative director also drew inspiration from <a href="https://lofficielusa.org/tags/yves-saint-laurent">Yves Saint Laurent</a>'s debut collection for the French fashion house in 1958 and its "Trap&egrave;ze" line.
Monday afternoon's Dior show wasn't just about the clothes, but the set was also carefully and artfully executed. Art by Rithika Merchant in collaboration with Chanakya Atelier and Chanakya School of Craft decorated the walls of the museum, telling a story of fantastical creatures and tropical vegetation that added to the transcendental ambiance of the catwalk. Karishma Swali translated Merchant's works into these large-scale pieces. (These are available for the public to see from January 28 to February 2, 2025 at the Rodin Museum.)
Dior ambassadors like Jisoo from Blackpink and Anya Taylor-Joy sat front row at the <a href="https://lofficielusa.org/tags/haute-couture">haute couture</a> show to their appreciation for Chiuri's surreal vision and her, sort of, edgy take on a sartorial fairy tale across time.
